Born in 2019 grew up in the slums on Seattle. Was offered 1 million nuyen by Dunkelzahn for him to bind the spirit Buttercup int his body for 1 year (2033) to teach her the value of metahumanity. While bound Buttercup could communicate and talk to Carl but not control him or act in any way. During the binding ritual Carl became aware of her true name. After the year Buttercup was free to go and Dunkelzahn ensured that Buttercup would take no actions against Carl. After Dunkelzahns death he left Carl the Amulet Of Shadows, a powerful masking foci to protect him from Buttercups magical attempts to locate him. Unfortunately Carl had become a drunk and lost the amulet down his garbage disposal unit...
