Merlin was, I seem to recall, the first character I actually created for myself. He had, amongst other things, the 'Animal Shape - Cat' spell. Things I remember most about Merlin are the character sketch I drew that had a shadow beneath him everyone accused of being flippers (sob) and his night-time sojourns into dark alleyways in cat form spent looking for anonymous pussy.

Stuart ruled that Merlin couldn't tell the difference between male and female cats at night, leading to an embarrassing situation with an alley tomcat, but the less said about that, the better.

I can't actually remember much about the character apart from that, but I do know that I'd found several of a core set of spells that would become the generic template for my magic using characters from that time on, including Mana Bolt, Stunbolt, Magic Fingers, and a few others.

Merlin was written out of the game when he foolishly went to an FBI van and said 'Here's the information you want and, oh, I'm completely on my own'. He was never seen again.
