Shade is a washed-up alcoholic ex-cop, who devides his time between drowning his bouts of self-pity with scotch, decking into places he has no idea how to deck out of again, and torturing NP Cs for information. He regards the criminal elements in the team (ie:everybody else) with suspicion, refuses to accompany them into action, but once there behaves like Rambo (but pissed).

Within Shade there are occasional flashes of the competent idealistic professional he once was, but whatever it was that motivated him is gone for good. He became dissillusioned with life when he realised that no matter what he did the really big crimminals could get away with anything. He set about himself in his spare time to try and bring them down by disrupting their finances.

Unfortunatly for hime their deckers were much better than him and led him on a merry go round while planting false evidence that he was on the take. This led him to wash his sorrows in scotch which in turn caused his wife and kids to leave him. Eventually he was forced to leave (Lone Star) with only a few friends who had stuck by him because they knew what he was going through and knew that he would never sell out to any criminal.

He is now a depressed, and bitter person who loathes the mafia for what it did to him, although he refuses to accept that he has a drinking problem. He is unsure about some of the team members jaded past but if they are willing to share a drink or three they are ok by him.

Recently he came into contact with the shedim and now has a habbit of blowing the head of every dead body to make sure that they don't get up again.
