Mortis was great! He was a taxidermist/mortician who was obsessed with death. He was also a return to form, in that he was another mage. He was my longest running Shadowrun character, and I left the game after his untimely demise.

Mortis was callous and fairly willing to kill whoever necessary to get the job done. He had a number of spells he invented revolving around death, including ones that let him animate corpses and stuffed animals and a direct damage spell (Mortis: Can I test my new spell on you? Jinx: What is it? Mortis: Wither). He also had Raven Form, (he was tougher in bird form than human form with the successes on that baby!) and a number of other fun and interesting spells.

He was a colleague and friend of Jinx's, and met his end when Jinx became trapped in a rockfall underground. Mortis went in to rescue him despite the odds, and was blasted on his way out by an Astral mage, who grounded spells through Mortis's quickened spells. The coup de grace occurred when a cave spirit came out of the cave and dropped a bomb at the injured Mage's feet, killing him instantly.

However, through a quirk of interdimensional physics (i.e. a one-off game in which people could bring characters from any game), Mortis was sucked into another dimension and given a chance to heal and re-anchor spells before returning to the Shadowrun universe - and thus survived the bomb being dropped at his feet.

Mortis Lives!
