The gang was the only family she knew. As she woke up in the strange bed, in the strange room, she knew the nightmare was more than just a dream. It was hard to face the reality that the gang was all gone, her friends torn apart or carried off. Food for the [[Shedim]], or worse. It isn't something she can think of as real, for her own sanity she can't afford to. Living on the streets makes you tough, you grow old fast, jaded, but underneath it can't take away the youthful fear of the unknown, of the new, the naivete that doesn't grasp the concept of aging, death, and loss. Only experience does that - and this is the worst she's ever had. But it hardens her heart, adds an iron core to her soul, teaches her that life is cheap and fleeting, can be ripped away at any moment. What worth does life have? It it is to have any, then she must grieve for her friends - she can't afford to let her defences down in such a way. Her friends are gone, she metaphorically wipes them off and keeps on going - no loss, the lives of others no longer has a value.

The gang was the only family she knew. As she woke up in the strange bed, in the strange room, she knew the nightmare was more than just a dream. It was hard to face the reality that the gang was all gone, her friends torn apart or carried off. Food for the Shedim, or worse.

Still it's a little strange, there are all these new faces around - she feels obliged for the unrequested medical help. Nothing has been asked in return, quite the contrary. They must think she is someone else, someone more important than she really is. They take her to this swanky club, there's a pre-paid mini bar for 1000 nuyen - and more than that an offer of a job that pays 25K EACH!!! If that isn't enoough - some of the group think that's too cheap - who the hell has she fallen in with? But she goes along, gets shot at for her trouble, hit a few times, but her armour takes it. And for just a weeks work she's rolling in it! This Pathfinder chap.. she'll keep in touch with him, she thinks.. he seems like a good source of more of these jobs.
