For a while in the early days, the team had a string of missions where we want to fancy places but got bilked when it came to payment. Largely lacking the limited ethics and honour even shadowrunners have, the team settled on a simple solution.
We wouldn't just attack targets, we'd steal their furniture. Preferably antique, but, y'know, we weren't picky. If we couldn't sell the haul for cash, we could at least save ourselves a trip to Sofa Shack.
Our best heist was when we were hired to steal an antique painting from a Bavarian Schloss. We got the painting, and generously helped ourselves to various other items. Smuggling it back to Seattle must have been tricky, but we apparently succeeded off-camera.
Towards the dying days of this joke, it collided with another meme. We were also at that time playing a number of published adventures, and the author(s) of the pieces had a bad habit of including in the flavour text sentences stating "You do this..." or "You think that..." Invariably, the actions or contemplations described did not match our characters, and we complained boisterously.
Then, one time it came right. During the Celtic Double Cross, the adventure had us providing security at a Tir Na Nog soiree. The flavour text went off in its mind-controlling ways, as it were wont to do, but this time said "In your boredom, you find yourselves examining the antique sideboard and idly wondering how much it was worth."
Yes. Yes, we did.
